Ruminate Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Johnathan Pulos, an individual who operates the Ruminate app (“we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Ruminate mobile app for iOS and Android and our website at https://ruminatebible.app/ (the “Service”). It should be read together with our Terms of Service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Questions or requests about your privacy can be sent to support@ruminatebible.app.
2. Information We Collect
| Category | What we collect | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Name, email address, password (stored in protected form), email verification status | You |
| Reflection content | Text, audio, and video responses to questions; the Bible passages you select | You |
| Settings | Number of questions per session, do-not-disturb times, timezone | You and your device |
| Device information | Device platform (iOS or Android), device model and version, operating system version, and a push notification token | Your device |
| Technical data | Basic information our servers and providers receive automatically when your device connects, such as IP address | Your device |
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or payment information, and we do not collect information about other apps on your device.
3. How We Use Information
We use your information only to run and improve Ruminate:
- to create and secure your account, verify your email, and send account and service messages (such as verification and password reset emails);
- to store your responses so that you can return to them;
- to send the push notifications you have enabled, respecting your do-not-disturb times and timezone;
- to generate each reflection question using artificial intelligence on our servers, based on the passage you select;
- to troubleshoot problems, keep the Service secure, and make it work on your device and operating system; and
- to comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
AI-generated questions are requested from our servers through Anthropic’s Claude API. We send only the Bible passage you select; we do not send your name, email, account details, or your responses.
4. Service Providers and Sharing
Other users never see your information, because Ruminate has no social features. We share data only with the providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for that purpose:
| Provider | What it does | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare R2 | Stores your text, audio, and video responses | Your reflection content |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) | Delivers push notifications | Push token, device platform |
| Brevo | Sends email through SMTP (verification and account emails) | Name, email address |
| Anthropic (Claude API) | Generates the reflection questions | Only the Bible passage you select; no personal information |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to respond to valid legal process, to protect the rights, safety, or security of users or the Service, or in a sale or transfer of the Service (in which case we will tell you). We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.
5. Retention, Deletion, and Security
Retention. We keep your account information and responses for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your account data and stored responses within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep certain records. Backups may take a short additional time to cycle out.
Deletion. You can delete your account from within the app or by emailing support@ruminatebible.app.
Security. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Your reflections can be personal, so please protect your password and device.
6. Your Choices, Your Rights, and Children
Your choices. You can edit your account details and settings in the app, turn off notifications in the app or your device settings, delete individual responses, and delete your account.
Your rights. You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to give you a copy. Email support@ruminatebible.app and we will respond within 45 days. If you are a California resident, you have these rights under California privacy law, and we will not discriminate against you for using them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Children. Ruminate is intended for people 14 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14. If you believe a child under 14 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Changes and Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email or an in-app message before they take effect, and we will update the date at the top of this page.
